A tort is a civil wrong. Rather than criminal liability to the state, those who commit wrongs (sometimes whether they mean to or not) may be liable to their citizen neighbors. Below are a list of torts we will discuss during the course:

  • Intentional Torts:
    • Battery
    • Assault
    • False Imprisonment
    • Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress
    • Trespass to Land
    • Trespass to Chattel
    • Conversion
  • Privileges (excuses for committing a tort)
  • Negligence
    • Duty
    • Breach
    • Causation
    • Damages
